HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN AT 20
26 August, 2024If you are 20 years old, it is the perfect time for you to start taking care of your skin. We imagine that you already use some basic skin care cosmetics, but we want to finish advising you on what you can take into account in this care to make your skin look much better.
WHAT DOES SKIN LOOK LIKE IN YOUR 20S?
Well, for sure it is a lush, young, turgid and beautiful skin. But there is a point that may worry you and that is that you have a skin too oily and along with this the appearance of acne lesions, a difficult pathology, unsightly and that is actually physiological. This means that the appearance of acne, if you have it, is part of the nature of your age.
Think that your sebaceous glands, which are responsible for the excretion of sebum (or oil) in your skin, are regulated by hormones, so the increase in sebum production is directly related to this hormonal stimulus. And at 20 your hormones are in full action.
There are other factors that are also responsible for triggering acne. Also in this type of skin the keratinization process, i.e. the cell renewal process of your skin is affected. And you can clearly see this in the occlusion of your pores. And to this, add the hypersecretion of your sebaceous glands, plus the presence of a bacterium that produces above all some inflammation and pain in many lesions. In other words, it is a multifactorial skin pathology.
We want to make you aware that the worst for your acne lesions and pimples is for you to touch them.
Why is it the worst? Because what you produce when you squeeze your pimples is inflammation and inflammation is a mechanism that compromises deeper layers of your skin, therefore it is very likely to leave scarring and very very unsightly and almost impossible to remove.
HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR SKIN?
If you have many lesions, inflamed and painful, with pimples that bother you, pimples on the chin that worsen with your menstrual cycles, we recommend a visit to a dermatologist. Remember that acne is a skin disease and only a medical specialist can treat it. There are many ways to make acne better, we recommend that you do not have any other type of treatment before seeing your doctor.
If your skin is only oily, things change.....
HOW TO RECOGNIZE and CARE FOR OILY SKIN?
It's not hard to tell if you have oily skin or not.
At 20 years old, as we have already explained, your sebaceous glands are stimulated by hormones, so at your age it is quite normal to see some oiliness or greasiness in your skin.
To take care of this type of skin it is important to keep in mind to perform two daily cleansings, one in the morning and one at night.
We recommend that you do it with a soapy gel type cosmetic. (Cleansing Gel - Oil Balance) which are specialized in cleansing oily skins. But keep in mind that if you are wearing make-up you will first need an emulsion cleansing cosmetic, i.e. a light cream designed for your skin type with an above-normal sebaceous excretion. (Balancing Cleansing Emulsion - Oil Balance).
One of the areas that you see more "dirty" or with more impurities is the so-called T-zone, the area of the forehead, nose and chin. This is because it is an area with a higher concentration of sebaceous glands, therefore the pilosebaceous orifices are more obstructed, with more content, you call them blackheads or blackheads. Its technical name is follicular keratosis, and the way to improve it is to make you a couple of times a week a mechanical exfoliating in the area, taking into account that it does not suit you exfoliating on lesions with inflammation. At Oil Balance we have the Purifying Exfoliating GelYou can do it with complete peace of mind and you will see that it will improve, especially the rough texture of the affected area.
IS IT NECESSARY TO MOISTURIZE OILY SKIN?
Yes, absolutely.
It is necessary to moisturize all skins, oily, non-oily, sensitive, strong, all!
Think that moisturizing the skin is giving it protection. Somehow your skin can defend itself and act as a skin barrier when this barrier is in good working order and having the right degree of hydration is ideal for everything to work well.
We know that not all creams are for all skins. That is why we recommend that you always look for creams adapted to your skin type. Always taking into account
If you notice that your skin is oily and you don't feel like putting more oil on it, look for emulsion type creams, taking care that they do not have mineral oils in their composition. We suggest the Purifying Emulsion Mat Express from our Oil Balance line.
Or we also recommend the Essential Oxygen Repair Gel from our Hydrovect line.
You can apply it once or twice a day, either of the two cosmetics, depending on how you feel and need it.
